Le visage semble émerger de la matière autant qu’il s’y dissoudre. Les traits apparaissent doucement, comme une mémoire qui refait surface avant de retourner au silence. Entre présence et absence, l’œuvre invite à ressentir ce qui demeure lorsque les contours deviennent incertains.
Réalisée au pastel à l’écu et à l’eau sur papier Arches, l’œuvre poursuit le dialogue entre la figure et la matière. Fifth work of the series Presences — Inhabiting the Silence, Fading Away explores the suspended moment where presence transforms, where something seems to disappear while leaving a trace behind.
The face seems to emerge from the material as much as dissolve into it. The features appear softly, like a memory resurfacing before returning to silence. Between presence and absence, the artwork invites us to feel what remains when outlines become uncertain.
Created with soft pastel and water on Arches paper, the work continues the dialogue between figure and material. Fibrous textures, traces of movement, and open spaces create subtle transitions between what is revealed and what remains hidden. The material becomes an imprint, carrying within it an emotion, a memory, a presence.
